Celtic have completed the signing of Slovakian international captain Lubomir Moravcik from German side MSV Duisburg.

Celtic have completed the signing of Slovakian international captain Lubomir Moravcik from German side MSV Duisburg.

Midfielder Moravcik, 33, has won 74 international caps with both Czechoslovakia and Slovakia and the fee is believed to be in the region of £300,000.

Celtic head coach Jozef Venglos said: "Having worked with Lubomir at international level, I know of his qualities as a playmaker and a versatile, attacking midfielder. Lubomir has played at the highest level and he will be a valuable addition to the squad."

Moravcik said: "Celtic's history and reputation is well known throughout the world and it is very exciting to come to a club of this stature."

But Celtic's transfer target Marko Viduka has admitted he is still some distance from joining the Scottish champions despite them agreeing a fee with Croatia Zagreb.

The Australian striker has had talks with Parkhead general manager Jock Brown and was expected to be in Glasgow this week to complete a projected £3 million move.

But Viduka says nothing has yet been finalised, with the issue of the player's work permit still to be resolved.
