Callum Davidson gave Celtic a helping hand into the Scottish Coca-Cola Cup quarter-finals after a long, dour struggle against St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park. Davidson handled Stephane Mahe's cross in the penalty area in the final minute of the first half of extra-time and Simon Donnelly stepped up to ease Celtic's present misery with a cool spot kick.

The goal followed a frenzied couple of minutes, in which St Johnstone were reduced to 10 men after substitute John O'Neil was sent off just five minutes after his introduction.

Remarkably, in the last minute of extra-time, Roddy Grant became the second St Johnstone substitute to be red carded, palming the ball into the net through frustration.
