The facile victory moves Rovers level on points with Sligo Rovers at the top of the table with a game in hand. Karl Sheppard headed Rovers in front from Rohan Ricketts’ corner kick on 23 minutes.

Sheppard turned provider to set up Ciaran Kilduff who held off the challenge of Alan McNally to round Trimble and slide the ball home after 42 minutes.

Rovers were relentless and Billy Dennehy added the third goal from a 70th minute penalty before fellow substitute Gary O’Neill got the fourth on 81 minutes.
