GALWAY SHC SEMI-FINAL: Clarinbridge0-18 Craughwell 0-13:ALL-IRELAND club champions Clarinbridge qualified for a second successive Galway SHC final and will meet Gort in next Sunday's final after holding off Craughwell in this refixed semi-final at Ballinasloe on Saturday.
Clarinbridge trailed by a point after 24 minutes but the champions hit 11 points by the 43rd minute. Craughwell kept Clarinbridge quiet earlier on, with Mark Kerins handed just one scoreable free in the first 30 minutes but all six forwards scored from play in the first half, which saw Clarinbridge lead 0-9 to 0-6 at the break.
But the champions should have wrapped up the victory earlier as both Kerins brothers missed good goal chances – Mark after 14 minutes and Alan on 41 minutes.
Midway through the second half three points from Craughwell’s Fergal Healy and Niall Healy (2) put just four points between the sides. But a point from Alan Kerins and one from Mark Kerins’ free settled the holders’ nerves.
