MUNSTER COLLEGES SF 'A' SEMI-FINALS:LAST year's beaten finalists Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne will get a second bite of the cherry as they came good late on to deservedly see off the challenge of a brave Tralee CBS side, 0-14 to 0-9, in a keenly contested semi-final played in ideal conditions at the Dr Crokes Grounds, Lewis Rd on Sunday afternoon.
PS Chorca Dhuibhne dominated for long periods but failed to put Tralee CBS away, despite the inspirational play of Pádraig Ó Sé (son of Kerry legend Páidí) at centre back, Barra Ó Suilleabháin and Eanna Ó Conchuir at midfield and the strong running Dara Ó Sé on the forty.
PS Chorca Dhuibhne raced into a 0-4 to 0-0 lead inside the opening 11 minutes, thanks to points from Barra Ó Suilleabháin, Micheal Ó Flannura, Tomás Ó Caomhanaigh (free) and wing back Pádraig Ó Dubhain.
Tralee CBS eventually got going with a fine point from wing back Tom McLoughlin and further scores from Jack Savage (2) and Greg Horan saw them trail 0-6 to 0-4 at the interval.
The sides were level on 0-7 apiece by the 40th minute, but two Brian Ó Raoill edged them clear again and they finished the stronger with four Dara Ó Sé frees They face Del La Salle Macroom in a Kerry-Cork final on March 4th.
DESPITEscoring just three second-half points, De La Salle, Macroom qualified for the final of this year's Corn Uí Mhuirí as they held off the challenge of Coláiste Chríost Rí, 1-9 to 0-10, at Cloughduv on Saturday afternoon.
Leading by 1-6 to 0-3 at half-time thanks to the midfield dominance of Peter Kelleher and Cathal Vaughan, the Macroom school looked set for an easy passage to the decider, but in the second half Paul Fitzgerald drove Chríost Rí on as they ate into the lead.
Crucially, however, the Cork city school never managed to get level and some good points from Pa Lucey ensured that De La Salle always had some breathing space.
