Circle of Gold can put herself in the frame for next year's Classics with victory in the Group Three Prestige Stakes at Goodwood today.

Following a highly-promising debut at Ascot, when she was beaten a short head by Cape Cross after showing signs of greenness in the closing stages, Peter ChappleHyam's daughter of Royal Academy comfortably accounted for Imperial Beauty by one and three-quarter lengths at Newbury.

That day she was boxed in for much of the six furlongs but once a gap appeared inside the distance she shot through it and quickened into a clear lead by the time the post came.

Clearly on the upgrade the Manton filly has been odds-on for both her starts so far and is sure to well backed once again.

But Circle Of Gold, who will not be inconvenienced by the step up to seven furlongs today, will not let her supporters down and can prove too strong for some promising sorts.

The day's best bet is the well-treated Valagalore in the Breheny Handicap over one mile and seven furlongs at Newmarket. The Barry Hills-trained filly has failed to get in the first three from four starts this season and has tumbled down the weights as a result - she started the term off on 80 and races off 70 today.

However, the four-year-old has shaped encouragingly over in adequate 12 furlongs on her two most recent outings both at Pontefract.

On her latest start she was not too well away and was soon behind but rallied in the closing stages to finish fourth, two lengths behind the winner Top Cees, giving every indication there was better to come over a longer trip.

And now Valagalore is given her chance and must not be missed off her current mark.

Abreeze can provide the Godolphin team with another win by taking the Equity Financial Collections Hopeful Stakes over six furlongs.

Campaigned exclusively over seven furlongs as a two-year-old the son of Danzig started his second season off over a furlong less and put up an excellent performance.

Shouldering 9st 7lb in a Yarmouth handicap Saeed bin Suroor's colt was backed as though defeat was out of the question and landed the spoils in great style, cruising clear from the distance to score by two and a half lengths from Tattinger in a fast time.

The step up to listed company today should prove well within Abreeze's compass and he has outstanding claims to take his tally for the year to two out of two at the main expense of Ed Dunlop's tough sprinter Monaassib.
