France's golden era may be over, but they are still good enough to hand out a footballing lesson to the part-timers from the Faroe Islands and return to Paris with three precious World Cup points.
Any result other than a convincing victory tonight from the former world and European champions in the North Atlantic would be regarded as a disgrace.
Coach Raymond Domenech reacted to Saturday's 0-0 draw with Israel in Paris by saying that 10 points are the least his team needs after the first four games - France host Ireland and travel to Cyprus in October.
"We must understand that we are not living on the top floor anymore," Domenech said.
At least some changes are expected for tonight's match as the 3-5-2 set-up should be shelved in favour of France's traditional 4-4-2 formation, with a back line composed of William Gallas, Sebastien Squillaci, Gael Givet and Eric Abidal.
In midfield, Olympique Marseille's Benoit Pedretti, only considered for the bench against Israel, is almost certain to partner captain Patrick Vieira. The play making should be shared by Barcelona's Ludovic Giuly and Arsenal's Robert Pires.
Up front, Liverpool's Djibril Cisse whose comeback has been twice delayed, could be given a chance to partner Thierry Henry.
Meanwhile, Israel Football Association officials say they expect a crowd of at least 30,000 at the National Stadium for their game against Cyprus - the first official international fixture to be played in Tel Aviv in almost three years.
