Scoring nine points in the final 10 minutes, Clare earned a draw in their first competitive tie under new manager Cyril Lyons at Cusack Park yesterday.

Clare had difficulty throughout containing Tipperary's full-forward line, which scored 1-13 in all. However, a late Clare revival, led by Niall Gilligan who scored 1-3, salvaged a draw for the home side.

The game also featured double All-Ireland winner, PJ O'Connell, who played his first competitive game for Clare since playing against Galway in the 1999 All-Ireland quarter-final.
