Clare 1-14 Leitrim 1-8:Clare recorded their second win in as many outings with a comfortable victory over Leitrim at Cusack Park, Ennis. Páidí Ó Sé's charges dominated their opponents for most of yesterday's encounter in front of a small but satisfied home crowd.
Leading 0-8 to 0-2 at half-time, the Banner side, made up of a blend of youth and experience, outclassed Leitrim who struggled to breach a disciplined home defence. Man-of-the-match Denis Russell was a pivotal figure and proved lethal from placed balls.
Leitrim scored three unanswered points early in the second half, but this was as close as they got. Clare responded with scores from Enda Coughlan and substitute Dessie Molohan and, when young full forward Garry Brennan added an excellent goal in the 61st minute, the outcome was never in doubt.
Clare led 1-14 to 0-8 before a late goal and a point from corner forward James Glancy put a flattering gloss on the final scoreline for Leitrim.
