Clare have named Ollie Baker in their starting line-up for Sunday's Munster hurling championship replay against Tipperary in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

Though named on the original selection, he did not start last Sunday's epic draw because of an ankle injury. However, he was brought in five minutes into the second half and played at full forward. Now back on his old stomping ground at midfield in company with Colin Lynch, his recall will be a huge morale-boost for Clare. Baker's return means the demotion of Enda Flannery to the substitutes' bench with Brian Quinn, introduced in the reshuffle before the game last Sunday, keeping his place at right corner back.

Significantly, there are some positional switches in the forward line with Jamesie O'Connor moved to right half forward, David Forde to the right corner and Alan Markham to left half forward. Stephen McNamara, who had a disappointing game last Sunday, is again named at full forward, though he could be the one to lose out if Clare spring one of their trademark surprises.

Clare will also be boosted by the return of P J O'Connell to the panel. Tipperary, who were expected to announce their team last night, have deferred selection. Extra time will be played if the sides finish level.

Meanwhile, the end of an era is signalled in the selection in the Cork hurling team of Donal Og Cusack in goal for their Munster semi-final against Waterford in Semple Stadium in Thurles on Sunday. It will be first time since 1981 that the goalkeeper's jersey was worn by anybody other than Ger Cunningham.

Cusack is one of four Cork newcomers to championship hurling. He is joined as a debutant by right half back Wayne Sherlock, midfielder Michael O'Connell and right half forward Timmy McCarthy.

There is no place on the team for Sean O'Farrell, Alan Browne, Mick Daly or Pat Ryan, all of whom are included among the substitutes. Cunningham never missed a championship match during his stint between the Cork posts and won all the honours available to him.

D J Carey faces a battle to be fit for Kilkenny's clash with Laois in the Leinster hurling championship on Sunday week.

The Young Ireland's attacker injured his back during training last Sunday week, and he has not played or trained since.

He has been out of work for over a week because of the injury.

P J Delaney has also picked up an injury - he pulled a hamstring during training and also missed a weekend club game. Both are receiving intensive treatment, but unless they can prove their fitness by the weekend they must be considered doubtful starters for the Laois clash.
