McGrath Cup - Clare 2-13 Waterford 2-11: A gale-force wind played havoc with the McGrath Cup final at Milltown Malbay yesterday, which ended in a two-point victory for Clare over Waterford after extra time.

Locked together at 2-8 each after 70 minutes, the home side scraped through in the remaining half hour and regained the trophy they last won two seasons ago.

Waterford played with the strong breeze in the first half and deservedly established a 1-7 to 0-2 lead by the interval. Gary Hurney scored their goal and within a minute of the restart Hurney found the target again to increase their lead to 11 points and at this stage Clare looked doomed.

Michael O'Shea started Clare's comeback with a goal in the 50th minute and London-born Paul Hehir levelled with an excellent Clare free in injury time.
