SUNDAY'S TOUR of the Mournes at Newry is the sixth of 10 events to count in the Callcard Classic League and Raymond Clarke of Premier Clonmel is back in the lead. It gets under way at noon and finishes back in Newry after a tough circuit of 75 miles with a separate promotion for second category, juniors and veterans.

Clarke upheld the standard of the home scene when he came through strongly towards the end of the championship at Carrick-on-Suir last Sunday to take third place behind French-based Morgan Fox and David McCann.

Clarke has 33 points with Ciaran Power next on 30 followed by David Peelo 26, Tommy Evans 24, Karl Donnelly 22, Bill Moore 19 and Ian Chivers and Richie McCauley are on 18. Power is on duty with the Irish team in Spain but, with Is points for the winner, Clarke's lead is precarious.

Ras Dun na nGall starts this evening at five o'clock in Donegal and continues tomorrow and Sunday, while the Navan club's Klondyke Cup race is at Robinstown on Sunday.
