European round-up: Kenny Logan believes he is lucky to be alive after suffering a clash of heads in Glasgow's 38-22 defeat in Pool Three at Llanelli yesterday.
Logan was taken off the pitch at Stradey Park on a stretcher following an accidental clash of heads with home player Dave Hodges. He left hospital after a lengthy check-up and admitted: "I'm so lucky, because it could have killed me."
The former Scotland star underwent seven separate brain scans after being carried off unconscious in Glasgow's defeat.
But hours later he was well enough to joke: "They didn't find anything in there - nothing new at any rate! Seriously, it was a very scary experience. I must have been out for the count for a few minutes and I can't remember a thing about my collision.
"I just recall lying on the special spinal board in the ambulance and realising how lucky I was to be able to feel my fingers and toes. I knew at that point that nothing bad was wrong with my neck. But from all accounts, it was a hell of a bash - and I suppose it could have killed me.
Llanelli kept their cup hopes alive with a full complement of points in a five-try victory. The home side ran riot in the final quarter as Glasgow battled back from 12-8 down at half-time to 15-15 after 50 minutes.
Meanwhile comeback star Jonny Wilkinson has admitted his prime career ambition is to win the European Cup with Newcastle.
Wilkinson was clearly relieved to have emerged intact on Saturday from his first outing in two months in the 13-10 Pool Five win over Edinburgh at Murrayfield.
"The European Cup is the biggest thing you can do with a club - and it is the biggest goal I have left in rugby," he said.
