DESPITE the quiet start to the season by the Dubai-based Godolphin operation, Classic Cliche should be able to land back-to-back victories in today's feature race, the £70,000-added Yorkshire Cup on the Knavesmire.

Last season the thoroughly genuine five-year-old followed his one and a half length victory from Strategic Choice in this race with a superb performance at Ascot when second to Pentire in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot.

Also winning the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot last season, Classic Cliche is a truly versatile performer and can come out, top despite some decent opposition.

Before the stayers' prize, a high-class field of sprinters compete for the Duke Of York International Factors Stakes. Godolphin look to hold a strong hand here as well, fielding two runners in Diffident and Blue Duster.

. Gary Cahill received a five-day ban for using his whip with excessive frequency after landing the Macallan 1OYO Single Malt Novices' Hurdle at Perth.
