Nemo Rangers 2-15 Ballylanders 2-9:Classy Nemo Rangers recorded their expected victory over Ballylanders of Limerick at Kilmallock yesterday.
Things looked promising for Ballylanders when they led by a point, 2-5 to 1-7, after 40 minutes. But the Cork champions then clicked into gear with the talented Paul Kerrigan, Dave Kearney, James Masters and Alan Cronin adding an extra 1-8 to their tally whilst limiting their opponents to four points.
Stephen Fox's sixth-minute goal gave Ballylanders the ideal start and, though points from Kerrigan, Cronin, Masters and Rick Kenny drew Nemo Rangers level, Kieran O'Callaghan converted a penalty to leave Ballylanders 2-1 to 0-4 ahead after 19 minutes.
Kenny's goal settled Nemo and further points from Kerrigan (twice) and Kearney made it 1-7 to 2-1 to Nemo at the interval.
A shock looked possible when Jimmy Barry Murphy, John Murphy and two pointed frees from O'Callaghan edged Ballylanders in front once again.
But Peter Morgan's 40th-minute goal turned the tide and the Cork champions, now in control territorially, rattled over eight points to two in during the next 15 minutes to seal their victory.
The losers finished with 14 men as Liam Martin was sent off for a second bookable offence.
