Class Two was the difficult class to win in the singles competition at Highfield over the weekend. Nigel Cleary took the honours with a remarkable 49 stableford points. Playing off a handicap of 18 he won by only two points from Mark Byrne, who shot 47 points off a 17 handicap. Classes one and three were not far behind in the scoring blitz. John Ryan won class one with 45 points off 11 - one point ahead of Paul Dowd, while Vincent Mulready took class three with 44 points off 22. Others to score in the high 40s over the weekend included Martin Furlong at Castle Barna - 47 points off 19 Frank Ryan, an 11 handicap from Mallow who hit the 46 mark.
