Rockmount 0 Bray Wanderers 3:A CLINICAL second-half display from Bray Wanderers was enough to see off Cork side Rockmount at Whitechurch and secure the Wicklow club their place in the draw for the fourth round of the FAI Ford Cup yesterday.

Having ended the first period on level terms it took the visitors just 90 seconds of the second half to open the scoring.

Ger Rowe headed goalwards from a searching cross only to see his effort blocked by the excellent Alan Weldon.

However, the striker reacted quickly to the rebound and was able to fire home crisply to the net from close range.

Bray's grip on the game increased when they added a second goal after 54 minutes.

Gavin Whelan extended the visitors' lead with a diving header after some good work from man-of-the-match Alan Cawley who posed Rockmount problems.

Rockmount were now facing a real uphill struggle and substitute Emeka Onwubiko sealed the win for Wanderers in the closing moments with a cooly placed shot to the bottom corner of Derek Slattery's goal.

The FAI Intermediate Cup winners had held out under sometimes intense pressure to go in at half-time level and were acquitting themselves until the first goal.

They were using the long ball to the imperious Ross O'Callaghan effectively - but their hopes were to be dashed as Bray's extra class in attack eventually paid dividends as they clinically put the game beyond the Leesiders.
