Joe Clinton (The Hills) will captain the Ireland under-19 squad in the Youth World Cup campaign, which will be played in South Africa next January. The squad numbers 14 players in all.

Ireland has been drawn against Sri Lanka, Pakistan and probably Denmark, as a `wild card' selection. The two top countries will go forward into a super league, while the bottom two will play in a plate competition.

The squad, coached by Mike Hendrick and managed by Dessie McCall, will leave for South Africa on January 6th.
