THE move to professionalism brought another body to the ranks of rugby union yesterday.
Representatives from several of Europe's leading clubs agreed to form the European Professional Rugby Clubs Association at a meeting in Cardiff.
The meeting of representatives from French, Welsh, Italian and English clubs took place before the inaugural Heineken European Cup final at the National Ground.
A statement was released after the meeting which said: "Constructive discussions took place on matters relating to competitions, players' contracts and the development of the game in Europe."
The move could be seen as a way of giving more power to the clubs and taking it away from the national unions.
English clubs have not taken part in this year's inaugural competition but the four leading sides will be included next season.
