The Leinster Council of the GAA has handed out heavy penalties to the Trim and Naomh Eoin clubs who were involved in an ugly brawl at the end of a provincial club senior hurling championship game at Dr Cullen Park two weeks ago.

Trim, who won the game 1-8 to 16, have been eliminated from this year's championship (which gives their scheduled opponents, Portlaoise, passage into the semifinals), while Naomh Eoin are debarred from competing in the Leinster club hurling championship on the next occasion they qualify as Carlow county champions.
