DUTCH master Peter Van Vossen eased Rangers into the third round with a comfortable victory over Clydbank at Firhill.
But there was an injury scare for Rangers - who go to Russia next week for their European Cup showdown with Alania Vladikavkaz - as skipper Richard Gough retired just before half time with a head injury.
Van Vossen struck twice in two first half minutes and his performance suggested he can make an impact at Ibrox this season. Substitute Ally McCoist added the third.
Gough was led inside for treatment to a head wound after a clash with James Grady a couple of minutes before half time. Gough failed to reappear, with McCoist sent on instead as Stuart McCall filled in at the back to superb effect.
