ROWING NEWS:IRELAND CHIEF coach Adrian Cassidy has named 23 senior and under-23 athletes in his list of invitees to the second National Assessment in Newry in three weeks' time.
A number of rowers were unavailable for the last assessment in November, but are also set to come into the mix once they produce medical certificates. Internationals Michael Maher and Lisa Dilleen, who missed the November test are “training fine”, according to Cassidy, and bound for Newry.
Lightweight men make up the biggest group with 10, but six heavyweight men are also invited – including Patrick Hughes of Trinity, whose twin, Turlough, represented Ireland at the 2010 World Junior Championships.
