Coláiste Eoin 1-5 Good Counsel 1-4:A FISTED Dathai Ó Cathamhaoil goal 12 minutes from time proved decisive as Coláiste Eoin scraped past Good Counsel and into the quarter-finals of the Leinster Colleges Senior A Football Championship at New Ross yesterday.
The home side had looked to be heading for victory before Ó Cathamhaoil popped up to punch to an empty net and from there on the south Dublin school were never caught.
Down 0-2 to 0-1 in injury-time Darragh Doyle and Mark Aylward combined to release Pauraic Conway, who finished calmly to the Coláiste Eoin net.
The New Ross school edged four points clear 10 minutes into the second half but their opponents began to gain the upper hand.
Ruairí Ó Meachair punched his side two clear inside the final 10 minutes and, while Good Counsel cut the gap to the minimum, chances for a leveller were squandered and Coláiste Eoin advanced.
