Four Senior B teams made it through to the quarter-finals of the Coca Cola Leinster Senior Cup at the weekend and having been paired with each other in yesterday's draw for the last eight two are now guaranteed a place in the semi-finals of the competition.

Both Senior A college teams, Trinity and UCD, were knocked out of the Cup by second division opposition, with Trinity losing 10 to Clontarf and UCD going down 2-1 to Pembroke Wanderers II. Rachel Ormrod was the toast of Clontarf after scoring the goal, 10 minutes in to the second half, that ousted Trinity while Brenda Duggan booked Pembroke's second team's place in the quarter-finals with two goals against UCD in a 2-1 victory.

Clontarf have been drawn against fellow Senior B team Aer Lingus, who beat Railway Union II on penalty strokes after a 3-3 draw, while Pembroke II will meet Loreto II in January's quarter-finals after they got the better of Old Alexandra's seconds, with Australian Peta Gallagher scoring one of their goals in a 2-0 win.

The tie of the round, though, pairs Hermes, who beat Muckross 2-0 on Saturday, with Pembroke Wanderers' first team - they survived a penalty shootout against Hermes II at the end of yesterday's tie, which finished 1-1, despite the absence of goalkeeper Nicola King who was invited to the Irish senior panel's training weekend at Belfield.

A hat-trick from Jane Salter against Muckross II earned Glenanne a tie against Old Alexandra, for whom Trish Conway scored the winner against Genesis on Saturday.

Meanwhile, in the Irish Junior Cup holders Our Lady's Terenure were beaten 2-1 by Waterford, with Ann Marie Ryan scoring twice from short corners. Extra time was needed to separate Three Rock Ladies and Enniscorthy, with the Dublin side going through 3-2, but two other South East teams, Wexford and Kilkenny, had comfortable victories over Athlone and Ashton, respectively.

Former Irish international Jackie McWilliams scored twice in Randalstown II's win over Parkview while Pegasus seconds beat Collegians 3-1 and Diocesan had a 1-0 victory over NUIG in Dangan.

Doubts over the availability of a number of players, due to work commitments, has resulted in Riet Kuper having to delay the naming of her Irish senior squad for January's training camp in Barcelona until later this week.
