JUNIOR CUP/CASTLEKNOCK - 33;CLONGOWES - 13: A sharp blockdown by centre Seán MacKay 30 seconds into the match and his own follow-through from the halfway line set Castleknock on the way to a surprising victory at Anglesea Road yesterday.

The early try, converted by Castleknock's stylish outhalf Brian Collins, put Clongowes on the back foot and they conceded two further penalties to Collins and a try to captain Eoin Mullen before half-time. Clongowes responded with a penalty from Robert Lawlor and a try from captain Darren O'Reilly.

At half-time the sides looked evenly matched though Castleknock showed more aggression as Collins set up some fine attacking movements.

This resulted in two further tries, one from winger Paul O'Byrne and a late try by Peter Conway. Collins landed the sideline conversion. Just minutes earlier, O'Reilly crossed for his second try for Clongowes.
