Cork IT had a largely unhindered passage into the semi-finals when they beat the home team at Maynooth yesterday.
Longford player Francis McGee was Maynooth's most impressive player and he gave them the lead with the first score of the afternoon. He edged them ahead again in the sixth minute after Cork IT rallied and went ahead and he finished with a total of eight points.
Cork IT, despite playing against the breeze, dominated for most of the half and led by 0-6 to 0-4 at the interval. They held Maynooth scoreless for the first nine minutes of the second period and pulled clear with a point from David Goulding and a goal from Roy Leahy. Paul O'Flynn then added two points, effectively ending the game as a contest before struggling Maynooth scored through Eddie Kelly.
Kerry player Bryan Sheehan kicked over a free in reply and his side scored the last four points to win with some ease.
