Kerry and Cork will replay their Munster football semi-final at Páirc Uí Chaoimh next Saturday, with a 3.30 p.m. throw-in. After drawing 0-8 to 0-8 in Killarney on Sunday, the replay was automatically scheduled to take place in Cork because of the home-away agreement between the two counties, writes Ian O'Riordan.
It was expected the game would take place on Sunday but a clash with the annual Cork Horse Show at the Showgrounds necessitated the move to Saturday. The Showgrounds take in much of the parking and access area adjacent to Páirc Uí Chaoimh, and the horse show would prevent access to 10 of the 40 turnstiles.
There was a possibility that the game would be played on Sunday back in Killarney, but Cork were unwilling the sacrifice their home advantage. As a result it will be the first time Cork and Kerry have met each other in the Munster championship on a Saturday.
The switch also means the game will not be covered on live television. Although RTÉ have a provision to cover replays, they have already announced a live game for Saturday evening (the Kildare-Offaly replay from Kilkenny at 6.15 p.m.).
RTÉ will decide later today whether to adjust their schedules and also cover the Kerry-Cork game.
Under the GAA rule that accommodates dual players (Cork's Diarmuid O'Sullivan plays both codes), the hurling qualifier between Cork and Limerick, originally set for Thurles this Sunday, will now be played the following Saturday, June 29th in Thurles with a 6.15 p.m. throw-in.
The other provincial semi-final replay, the Leinster pairing of Kildare and Offaly, returns to Nowlan Park on Saturday (6.15 p.m.).
