Cork City - 1 Bohemians - 0: Cork City scored an unlikely win over an unlucky Bohemians at Turner's Cross last night when a goal from John O'Flynn separated the teams.
It was O'Flynn's first league goal this season for the champions who were a distant second to Bohs for much of the match up until the goal.
It was Bohs who looked the more dangerous attacking team and they were especially threatening from Fergal Harkin's accurate delivery from corner kicks. Three times in the opening 20 minutes they might have scored, Barry Ferguson going closest when he had a toe-poke taken off the line by Joe Gamble.
Bohs continued to dominate in the second half and were again unlucky when Stephen Rice's header was too close to goalkeeper Michael Devine.
However, they were rocked on their heels when Cork suddenly put an effective attacking move together in the 66th minute. O'Callaghan won a header on the edge of his own six-yard box and Murphy found Neale Fenn in the centre circle. He released Denis Behan wide on the left and his early ball was precisely played to allow O'Flynn score confidently as he moved in to the box from the right.
This goal was totally against the run of play and upset Bohs' composure considerably. They struggled as Cork raised their game and were lucky not to concede a second in the 82nd minute when a shot from O'Callaghan flicked off a defender and bounced to safety off the crossbar
