GAELIC GAMES/Sigerson Cup: Cork IT 1-15 Dublin IT 0-10: Despite the inclusion of intercounty players Michael Lyng and Damien Munnelly, DIT found the going tough at Grangegorman yesterday. On a bitterly cold afternoon, DIT were held scoreless from the 34th to 53rd minute in what proved to be a defining period of the game.

Coached by Tony Leahy, Cork IT were a formidable outfit, particularly from numbers nine to 13. It was here Cork IT took the scores, although it wasn't until early in the second half they managed to break free.

Until then, DIT were well in contention. Cavan forward Michael Lyng registered their first score from a free on two minutes.

There followed four more scores before CIT corner forward Daniel Goulding landed a free midway through to leave his team leading by 0-4 to 0-2.

A brace from Mayo panellist Damien Munnelly, coupled with a free from Lyng, put the home side back in front once more.

Vincent Hurley and Goulding then handed CIT a one-point lead at the break before Lyng countered with back to back frees.

It was the last time DIT troubled their opponents, with Cork posting 1-7 without reply. Goulding got the goal on 47 minutes.

A brace of scores from John Carlton was not enough for DIT in the end.
