Kildare's Johnny McDonald has been ruled out of next Sunday's Leinster senior football semi-final replay against Meath at Croke Park because of a hamstring injury. His place at corner forward will be taken by Brian Murphy, who will be playing his first championship game for the county.

Murphy's only previous appearance for a Kildare team was when he came on as a substitute in the recent National Football League quarter-final. He formerly played with the Bishopstown club in Cork and won All-Ireland minor hurling and football medals with Cork as well as an All-Ireland junior football medal.

Kildare centre back Glen Ryan, who damaged a thigh muscle during the drawn game, has been cleared to play. Martin Ryan, who replaced the injured Ronan Quinn in that game, will play at corner back, while Davy Dalton starts at full back.

Meanwhile, the Tyrone county board have handed down suspensions to nine players arising from the abandoned senior football semi-final replay between Dungannon Clarkes and Edendork St Malaghys.

Both clubs have been banished from this year's championship, and individual suspensions range from one to eight months. Current county star Gerard Cavlan received a 10-week ban. He had been sent off for two bookable offences before he got involved in the flare-up in the second half of the match at Clogher.

The county board had summoned five players from Dungannon and four from Edendork to appear before them.

The longest ban, eight months, was imposed on the former county player Audi Hamilton. His Dungannon team-mate, Paul Coulter, was banned for six months.

Former Tyrone midfielder Adrian Kilpatrick was banned for a month, as was Thomas Colton.

Four Edendork players, Niall McGuinness, Enda Currie, Ronan Murphy and Justin Corr, were all given two-month sentences.

Tyrone have made two changes for Sunday's Ulster minor football championship final clash with Antrim. Top scorer Stephen Donnelly, ruled out due to a broken collar bone, is replaced by Brian O'Neill and Stephen O'Neill, who came on as a late substitute in the semi-final victory over Monaghan, retains his place.
