PREMIER Division champions Derry City appear to be still recovering from their weekend celebrations and Cork City made them pay dearly following a thoroughly deserved victory at the Brandywell.

The Leesiders have now collected six points from their visit to the North, having defeated Dundalk 4-0 on Sunday, and they seem assured of a place in the Intertoto Cup at least.

In the 15th minute, Kelvin Flanagan broke on the left and his low centre was clipped over the head of Derry reserve goalkeeper, Declan Devine from the narrowest of angles by John Caulfield.

The Leesiders grabbed the second in the 22nd minute when the lively Colin O'Brien crashed a powerful header into the roof of the net following a Brian Barry Murphy corner.
