Cork's third takes them to second in away first

Bray Wanderers... 2 Cork City..

Bray Wanderers ... 2 Cork City ... 3Cork City have finally won for the first time away from home this season, but they were made to sweat for all three points as Bray refused to make it easy for Liam Murphy's men who now go second in the table.

Cork, though, won't have been happy at conceding an equaliser in first-half stoppage-time, before almost throwing away a two-goal lead in the second half.

Cork might well have been in front after only eight seconds when George O'Callaghan had a shot cleared off the line by Mick Doohan.

And it was more poor defending by Bray that cost them the lead on 35 minutes. Billy Woods' inswinging free-kick was attacked and Dan Murray stole in to toe-poke home from close range, his first goal in three games since joining City from Peterborough United.

Bray, however, stole one back in stoppage-time when Colm Tresson rose unattended to head home Eamonn Zayed's precise cross.

Cork appeared to put the game beyond Bray when scoring twice within 13 minutes of the restart.

O'Callaghan restored Cork's lead on 51 minutes when John O'Flynn ran clear on to Alan Reynold's pass to cross for his strike-partner to head home at the back post.

And it was 3-1 seven minutes later when Woods drilled the ball home after O' Flynn had got the better of Wes Charles at the end-line to cross.

But Bray battled back to force a grandstand finish, getting a second goal on 65 minutes.

Graham Lawlor flicked on a Graham O'Hanlon free-kick to find Zayed who drove the ball past Michael Devine.

Tresson was the guilty of two bad misses late on as Cork held on for a precious, long overdue, away win.
