Cork 1-10 Galway 0-8: Síle Burns scored 1-2 as Cork continued their impressive run in the Gala Senior A Camogie Championship yesterday with a 1-10 to 0-8 victory over Galway at Athenry.
The visiting side led by 1-5 to 0-6 at half-time with Burns scoring the Cork goal after just three minutes.
Galway had, however, certainly matched their opponents throughout the half despite the absence of influential half back Sínead Calahan, who broke a bone in her hand during the lead up to the game.
Veronica Curtin scored five first-half points for Galway while Ann Marie Hayes was also on target.
Angela Walsh scored two points for Cork in the opening half and also helped create Burns's goal with a precision pass to the centre forward.
Conditions remained wet throughout this game with heavy showers prevailing but the camogie on offer was certainly of the highest intensity and it was only in the second half that Cork began to pull away and Galway's only scores came by way of two pointed frees from Curtin.
Galway were unable to utilise any possession they had in attack during second half which ultimately proved to be their downfall.
