Cork City 2 Bohemians 1: Cork City brought Bohemians' unbeaten run to a shuddering halt at Turner's Cross when two goals in a three-minute spell helped them dominate this Eircom League tie.

Bohs found it hard to cope with the strong wind blowing into their faces in the opening half and were under persistent pressure.

They looked insecure, especially when Liam Kearney had time to pick out incisive passes. His glorious crossfield ball in the 27th minute travelled 30 yards and released John O'Flynn, and he withstood the challenge of Owen Heary before firing a powerful volley across goalkeeper Brian Murphy and into the corner of the net from 15 yards.

Bohs were in trouble again within three minutes when Brian O'Callaghan headed the ball on for Roy O'Donovan on the right.

He knocked the ball over the head of Jason McGuinness and cut in on goal before shooting low between Murphy and the near post from 10 yards.

Inevitably, given the strength of the wind, the second half saw a swing in the balance of play and Bohs were seen more in attack.

Kevin Hunt tested Michael Devine from 30 yards in the 54th minute and the goalkeeper was happy to deflect the shot over.

Bohs made little impression, however, on a disciplined Cork defence. And there were only two minutes left when Des Byrne crossed from the left for Jason McGuinness to deflect the ball in. It was too little too late.
