Munster MFC Final/ Kerry 2-8 Cork 1-16: Munster Champions Kerry lost their Munster Minor crown when they were well beaten by a fired-up Cork side in yesterday's ESB Minor decider at Fitzgerald Stadium, yesterday.
Cork had the advantage of a strong wind in the opening half and looked to be physically the more imposing side especially up front, where centre forward Ciarán Sheehan, who scored four points, threatened every time he gained possession. They led 0-9 to 1-3 at the interval and Kerry were hoping to use the wind to get back in the game but it was not to be. Some superb long-range points from Sheehan, Aidan Walsh and Eoin Buckley saw Cork lead 0-14 to 1-6 entering the final 10 minutes. Kerry then conceded a 51st minute goal to Buckley and two quick points from Honohan and Walsh saw Cork move 10 points clear.
Barry John Walsh's late goal from a close-in free only served to put a gloss on the scoreboard.
