Women's Football National League: Cork will face Meath in the Suzuki women's football National League Division One final after both sides secured semi-final victories yesterday.
Reigning champions Cork beat Galway - who they defeated in last year's decider - 2-14 to 2-9 at Ballincollig yesterday.
Cork still have a 100 per cent record this year and it never really looked in any doubt yesterday as they booked their place in yet another national final.
Goals from Breige Corkery and Nollaig Cleary helped them to a 2-7 to 1-5 half-time lead. Geraldine Conneally scored Galway's goal.
Elsewhere, Meath's resurgence continued yesterday with a deserved 1-13 to 2-9 victory over Mayo at Ratoath.
Mayo entered the game with a 100 per cent record in the league this year, but the home team ended that with a powerful display. They led 0-7 to 0-6 at half-time and pulled away early in the second half to lead by 0-12 to 0-7.
Annette Gallagher slotted home a Mayo goal midway through the half, but Meath's response was emphatic with substitute Charlene McAuley finding the Mayo net.
Cora Staunton, who scored 1-6 in total yesterday, scored a late consolation goal for Mayo seconds before full-time.
The final will be played on May 6th with a venue to be decided, Parnell Park, however, looks likely at the present.
In the Division Two semi-finals, Kildare beat Sligo 1-18 to 2-6 and they will meet Laois in the decider after their 3-16 to 1-11 victory over Tipperary.
Leitrim beat Fermanagh 2-10 to 2-4 in the Division Three semi-finals and will play Clare in that divisional final after they beat Wicklow by 5-14 to 1-3.
