UL/Bohemians ... 10 Buccaneers ... 8A penalty goal landed by Ian Costello in the dying minutes gave UL Bohemians their second win of the season in the AIB League at the expense of Buccaneers at Thomond Park on Saturday.
It was harsh justice on Buccaneers who also had a chance to salvage the desired result a couple of minutes later; but this time outhalf Lee Turner was off target with a difficult penalty from the left-hand touchline.
Bohemians dominated the game territorially, especially in the opening 20 minutes, and should have led by far more than a try by Keith Matthews which Costello converted.
Buccaneers battled back with a try by Gavin Schoeman which Turner converted to give them an 8-7 lead at the interval, which they scarcely deserved.
The scoreline remained unchanged until the third minute of stoppage time when Costello held his nerve to land the crucial points. Even then Buccaneers could have saved the day but Turner was off target with a last-ditch chance.
