St Columba's - 26 Good Counsel - 3:SCHOOL'S CUP: Dublin side St Columba's proved too strong for Good Counsel, New Ross in this Leinster Schools' Senior Cup tie at Athy.
Outhalf Michael Quinn, who had a profitable afternoon, opened the scoring with a converted penalty after three minutes.
Good Counsel levelled 10 minutes later when Derek Byrne kicked a penalty, but the Wexford side fell into arrears when centre Philip Black got the first try of the game after 13 minutes. Quinn converted and managed another penalty to push the winners into a 13-3 interval lead.
St Columba's exerted even greater pressure in the second half and they increased their lead through another Quinn penalty in the 39th minute and this was followed by a try in the corner from the impressive Ben Cork.
Henric Gervais rounded off the scoring with a pushover try six minutes from the end.
