The drama unfolded in extra time as Good Counsel College, New Ross, had to withstand a late Enniscorthy CBS barrage before emerging with a single-point victory in their Leinster Colleges' Senior Hurling Championship A first round game at Killurin, yesterday. Enniscorthy failed to utilise the wind advantage and only led 0-5 to 0-3 at the interval.

With wind advantage on the change over one expected Good Counsel to take charge. The sides exchanged early points through William O'Dwyer and Rory Jacob, before O'Dwyer left the minimum between the sides.

Amazingly it took a late Mark Phelan free to tie the sides at 0-6 each at the end of normal time.

The first period of extra-time saw Good Counsel play some of their best hurling and a Shane Cullen goal helped them to a 1-10 to 0-7 lead by the break.
