MUNSTER SCHOOLS' JUNIOR CUP QUARTER-FINALS Crescent Comprehensive 7 Rockwell 0: A WELL-worked try three minutes before the interval…

MUNSTER SCHOOLS' JUNIOR CUP QUARTER-FINALS Crescent Comprehensive 7 Rockwell 0:A WELL-worked try three minutes before the interval gave Crescent Comprehensive a place in the semi-final of the Avonmore Munster Schools' Junior Cup at Dooradoyle yesterday.

They had to work extremely hard to get the better of a Rockwell side who twice were unfortunate to see penalties by fullback Philip Quirke curl inches wide or drop a fraction short.

Rockwell dominated early on but once Crescent settled they might have gone in front but a penalty by Gary O'Shea from 35 metres was just wide.

But Crescent struck for the crucial try after 27 minutes. From a ruck, outhalf Gerard Lyons offloaded to O'Shea and he created the chance for Greg Barry who found space to send Jack Frawley in at the corner after he had come off his right wing to touch down at the left. Flanker Diarmuid Dee superbly added the conversion from the touchline.

The nearest Rockwell came to getting a try was when Liam Murchan was driven over by his forwards after a three-man move but a five-metre scrum resulted from which Rockwell were penalised.
