Longford Town 3 Wexford Youths 2/After extra time, 1-1 after 90 mins:GARETH CRONIN'S term in charge of Longford town began with a victory after his side came from a goal down to beat Wexford Youths at Flanclare Park.

Wexford took the lead in the 12th minute when poor defending allowed Patsy Malone to head home from a Conor Sinnott corner.

Longford’s equaliser arrived soon afterwards when Adrian Murphy’s cross was misjudged by the Wexford defence and Gary Curran burst through to score.

Gavin Doyle and Gary Sheehan went close for Wexford during a scoreless second half that occasionally came to life.

Curran turned provider for Longford’s second goal, setting up Derek Glynn who fired home in the second minute of extra time.

A bizarre own goal saw Longford extend their lead five minutes from time. John Flynn O’Connor was unfortunate to see his header creep past Packie Holden.

Just one minute later Wexford scored again to ensure a tense finish. Gavin Doyle hammered home at the second attempt after Fennelly had saved his initial penalty.
