All-Ireland club champions Crossmaglen were handed a shock defeat by Castleblayney Faughs in an exciting Ulster quarter-final in Castleblayney on Saturday.
The Monaghan team, doing a superb marking job on the Armagh team's celebrated forwards, led by 0-8 to 0-3 at the interval, with man of the match Paul O'Connor superb. Third quarter points by Kieran Tavey (three) and his brother Aidan put the game to bed.
In the Leinster club hurling championship, Castletown of Laois beat Coill Dubh of Kildare 2-10 to 0-11, although the winners had to struggle to gain their expected win. Their two goals came from Eoin Dooley and John O'Sullivan.
