Glenflesk, inspired by the superb Seamus Moynihan and a devastating John Crowley, caused a major upset when they defeated An Ghaeltacht in a thrilling Kerry football championship final at Fitzgerald Stadium yesterday.

Glenflesk will represent Kerry in the Munster Club championship on Sunday next when they will face Moyle Rovers. It was Crowley who gave his side the vital breakthrough in the 17th minute when he struck for a superb goal, helping himself to 1-3 in the first half. Glenflesk led 1-5 to 06 at half-time as Darragh O Se tried to rally An Ghaeltacht in the second quarter. Scores were at a premium with Paud O'Donoghue and Dara O Cinneide trading frees.

Aodhan MacGearailt equalised in the 59th minute for An Ghaeltacht but in a dramatic finish Moynihan rallied Glenflesk for a final assault and when Crowley was hauled down on the edge of the box, Paud O'Donoghue had the simple task of tapping over the free to give Glenflesk and Moynihan a place in history.
