Paul Gascoigne: Injured in FA Cup final for Tottenham against Nottingham Forest in 1991. Was out of the game for a year before moving to Lazio.

Alan Shearer: Suffered the injury playing for Blackburn against Leeds on St Stephen's Day 1992. Was out for eight months.

John Salako: Suffered cruciate ligament damage playing for Crystal Palace in 1991. The injury restricted him to 23 league appearances in two seasons.

Philippe Albert: Was injured playing for Newcastle in December 1994 and was out for eight months.
