Terenure made a fine start against DLSP at Anglesea Road to go through to Friday's Leinster Cup final where they will face Clontarf at Donnybrook.

This game was decided inside the first 16 minutes with Terenure outhalf Shane Cullen accounting for all of his side's opening points. He landed an early penalty and then scored under the posts following good work by second-row Dermot Quinn.

A successful conversion coupled with two more penalties increased the gap before DLSP rectified the situation somewhat when right wing Philip Costello squeezed into the corner for his side's only score of the game on 29 minutes.

Costello's display was perhaps the only bright spark for DLSP who were without Leinster flanker Declan O'Brien and Romanian full back Mahai Vireanu.

Furthermore, Shane Stephens, named at full back in the AIB/Irish Times team of last season, was rarely given the chance to display his skills as Terenure kept DLSP firmly on the back foot.

DLSP lost their discipline after the break, culminating in Kevin Wheelock's dismissal for stamping, and Terenure then killed off the game with tries from Quinn and Mark O'Kelly.
