This is the 60th anniversary of the Ryder Cup that never was. And it will be noted with decidedly mixed feelings by the members of the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club in north Florida. It was selected to play host to the 1939 matches but only a matter of weeks beforehand, the advent of World War II caused the event to be cancelled.
Ponte Vedra is currently receiving comparable praise, following a $3.7 million tee-to-green facelift last year. Sounds like a venue for the future.
