Arch Swing will have her next start in the Coolmore Fusaichi Pegasus Matron Stakes at the Curragh on September 8th. John Oxx's three-year-old filly chased home Finsceal Beo in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket in May and has been unlucky on more than one occasion since.
Oxx refuses to lose faith though, and is convinced a Group One success is still on the cards. "She's in good form and she is working towards the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on September 8th," said Oxx.
"It's been a bit of a frustrating season for her but she has been running well.
"She has got into trouble a few times and been badly drawn a few times but we think there is a bit more to come from her.
"In the Coronation Stakes she was unfortunate, the winner had flown but she could have finished second that day."
Danak, unlucky in running when sixth in the Arlington Million at the weekend, will have his next run on September 8th at Leopardstown. Oxx has yet to decide whether he will tackle the Group One Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes or the Group Three Kilternan Stakes. "He gets home (from Arlington) tomorrow. He's fine, he ran a good race but he was a bit unlucky and he was only beaten a length and a half so it was one of those blanket finishes," said Oxx.
"You could run the race again tomorrow and probably get a different result. He's in the Irish Champion Stakes and the Group Three, the Kilternan Stakes, on the same day so he will probably run in one of them providing the ground is okay."
Tracey Collins is praying the rain stays away from York ahead of Dandy Man's bid for glory in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes on Thursday week. The Mozart four-year-old appears not to have enjoyed much luck in recent times. Seemingly undone by the draw in two consecutive renewals of the King's Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, the heavens also opened before the Nunthorpe was run last year. Dandy Man's liking for a firm surface is well-documented and Collins says he could bypass the upcoming Knavesmire sprint if conditions are not in his favour.
Epsom Derby winner Authorized continued his preparation for next week's Juddmonte International at York with a workout on Newmarket's Al Bahathri gallops.
Peter Chapple-Hyam's charge, who was turned over by Notnowcato in the Coral-Eclipse on his latest start, covered seven and a half furlongs partnered by Adrian McCarthy but Chapple-Hyam has revealed big-race pilot Frankie Dettori will be down to ride Authorized in his final gallop before York at the end of the week. "That was a real good blow-out and he will be ready by next Tuesday," said the St Gatien handler.
Soldier Of Fortune, ante-post favourite for the Ladbrokes St Leger on September 15th, is not certain to be targeted at the race. Aidan O'Brien's Irish Derby winner has not been seen since winning the 12-furlong Classic at the Curragh last month and the team at Ballydoyle have yet to set future plans in stone.
O'Brien said: "We gave Soldier Of Fortune a good rest after the Irish Derby and, while he is in good form and cantering away, we haven't made any decision about where he will run next."
