KENNY DALGLISH grew up in Glasgow with pictures of Rangers players on his bedroom wall now the ex-Celtic legend will be putting names in the Ibrox frame.
Rangers chairman David Murray yesterday announced that he has signed up the former Celtic star and ex-Liverpool and Blackburn manager Dalglish for his Carnegie Sports International company.
Dalglish's title will be New Business Development Manager.
But he will also be on hand as a super scout as Rangers prepare for the European League which Murray foresees by the new millennium.
Manager Walter Smith remains the power on the Ibrox throne, with Dalglish available in the background as Rangers seek European credibility.
Dalglish, 45, who is Scotland's most capped international with 102 appearances, will be on the Carnegie pay roll and not that of Rangers.
Carnegie manage top sports stars such as golfer Sam Torrance and Rangers striker Ally McCoist.
But it is Dalglish's role as a scout which will captivate Ibrox fans with the man who led Liverpool and Blackburn to the title in England expected to be used in an advisory capacity to check out foreign transfer targets.
Rangers are thinking big after failure in the Champions' League in the past two seasons, with Smith and Murray having moved into the South American market to sign Chilean striker Sebastian Rozental recently.
Both Smith and his assistant Archie Knox made the lengthy trip to Santiago to secure that deal.
