LIVERPOOL have signed another Dalglish but manager Roy Evans insists that it would be wrong to make any father and son comparisons after the Reds had once again swooped on Celtic to land the 1996 offering of the Scottish clan.
The name Kenny Dalglish will always be synonymous with Liverpool and their golden days of the 1970s and 1980s and now his son, Paul, is taking the same high road to England after deciding to quit Celtic some 19 years on.
Dalglish junior (20), is set to sign a contract with the Anfield club after failing to settle in Glasgow.
Evans, who was at Liverpool when Bob Paisley paid Celtic £440,000 to take Dalglish senior to Anfield in 1977, said. "He is here to show us what he can do and we are glad to have him on board.
"There is an obvious similarity to his dad in looks, but Paul is his own man. He is not Kenny Dalglish. He obviously gets the same chance as everyone else here and he's got a good chance of making it.
"Paul is going to join us as a young professional. He left Celtic because he wanted to be nearer home."
Young Dalglish only figured in the reserve team at Celtic, but played in a Liverpool shirt as a pupil at the club's school of excellence and in testimonial matches.
He joins several of his schoolboy team mates from his Merseyside teenage days and links up again with good friend Dominic Matteo.
Evans added. "It's hard for him, but people should not expect to see Kenny Dalglish."
But the Liverpool boss will no double be hoping that the new arrival can have the same kind off impact on the club that his father did.
Meanwhile, across the park, Everton manager Joe Royle will brush aside his obvious disappointment at losing out to Premiership rivals Leeds on the signature of Nigel Martyn by stepping up his search for a new goalkeeper.
Royle, who thought Martyn had been about to sign for Everton before learning of the Crystal Palace goalkeeper's £2.25 million move to Elland Road, will still look for a back up and rival for Neville Southall.
And Royle's former Oldham starlet Paul Gerrard is high on his priority list.
England Under 21 keeper Gerrard has long been linked with the Merseysiders, while Sheffield United's Alan Kelly is also reported to be a target.
The Everton boss is desperate to bring in a quality goalkeeper because Southall's regular understudy, Jason Kearton, who is transfer listed, is suffering from a dislocated shoulder.
Meanwhile, Nigerian star Daniel Amokachi, currently on Olympic duty, is attracting interest from abroad, with the latest inquiry coming from Turkish club Besiktas.
Anders Limpar, who almost joined Marseilles in the summer, will join his team mates for preseason training next week after suffering a minor strain which has required treatment.
Royle said. "The Marseilles offer was one which suited Anders and ourselves, but because that fell through it does not mean that we do not want him to stay at the club."
