SENIORS TOUR:Eamonn Darcy drew praise from two-time major winner Tony Jacklin after his opening round of two-under-par 70 in the Bendinat London Seniors Masters yesterday.
Jacklin, who is making his first tournament appearance in Britain since the 2005 British Open, shrugged off the disappointment of his 79 to say of his playing partner: "There were some good crowds braving the rain and Eamonn treated them to some really good golf.
Darcy put together four birdies against two bogeys to finish in a group two strokes behind the first round leaders, Sam Torrance of Scotland and Carl Mason of England.
PGA TOUR:Jay Williamson added a second 66 to take the clubhouse lead at eight-under-par 132 at the halfway mark in the PGA Championship at TPC River Highlands, in Connecticut.
Williamson led by one from first round leader Hunter Mahan, who added a second round 71 for 133. Later starter Padraig Harrington was on level par after 14 holes while Darren Clarke was two over par after 14 holes.
CHALLENGE TOUR:Stephen Browne faces an anxious wait to see if he makes the cut at the weather-affected Credit Suisse Challenge.
The Dubliner completed his opening two rounds at the Wilyhof Golf Club in Switzerland with scores of 73-72 for a one under 145 total which left him right on the projected cut mark.
With half of the 156 man field to return to the course this morning to complete round two after severe weather delays on both Thursday and yesterday, Browne could only return to his hotel and hope that his score was good enough to make the cut.
Michael McGeady, who posted a five under par 68 in the first round, is among the 78 players to complete round two this morning.
LET TOUR: A second round five-under-par 67 gave Sweden's Asa Gottmo the perfect 36th birthday present at the Vediorbis Open de France Dames at Le Golf D'Arras.
The Swede, who posted a 72 in Thursday's opening round, took the early clubhouse lead before torrential rainfall caused play to be suspended for four hours.
Rebecca Coakley shot 74 for 144 while Claire Coughlan, level after 12, will complete her second round today. Martina Gillen finished on 158 after a 79.
AMATEUR:The final of the British Amateur Championship will be between American student Drew Weaver and last year's Australian champion Tim Stewart over 36 holes at Royal Lytham and St Annes today.
Weaver had a 2 and 1 victory over Jason Shufflebotham of Wales while Stewart defeated Callum Macauley by one hole.
